Pink Floyd: Live at Pompeii

Pink Floyd Live at Pompeii Pink Floyd: Live at Pompeii
Pink Floyd: Live at Pompeii is a 1972 film featuring Pink Floyd performing six songs in the ancient Roman amphitheater in Pompeii, Italy. It was directed by Adrian Maben and recorded in the month of October with 24 studio-quality tracks without a hot audience. The performances of "Echoes," "A Saucerful of Secrets," and "One of These Days" were filmed from October 4, 1971 to October 7, 1971.

The remaining songs were filmed in a Paris studio, along with additional front projection footage for introduction into the Pompeii performances. The sequences in Paris were filmed in late 1971/early 1972, and can be distinguished by the absence of Richard Wright's beard. This adaptation was released in cinemas in September 1972 and is also included on the DVD edition as an extra feature. In August 1974, another edition was released combining the pilot film with supposed recording sessions of The Dark Side of the Moon at Abbey Road Studios. These sessions were actually staged for the film[citation needed], as the transcription of the album had been accomplished when these sessions were filmed in January 1973 and the circle was mixing the album at the time.Story Live versions of the songs, filmed in an old Pompeii amphitheater. Songsincluded are Echoes (split into 2 parts), Careful with that axe,Eugene, A saucerful of secrets, One of those days, Set the controls forthe spirit of the sun, Mademoiselle nobbs (Seamus, but with Rick's dog onvocals). "Careful" and "Set the controls" are guessing at night withminimal lighting, setting a beautiful mood. And the live Saucerful justhas to be seen, with Waters jumping about in the sunlight banging thehuge gong. The 80-minute version features studio footage from therecordings of Dark slope of the Moon, with alternative versions of Us andthem, On the run and Brain Damage, as easily as hilarious interviews withthe band (don't miss Waters raving about the great economical collapse, and Nick whining about the crust on the pie). Quote
David Gilmour: Most people think of us as a very drug oriented group. Of track we're not. You can trust us.
Nick Mason: We notice a kind of era. We're in peril of becoming a token of the past. And for some people we represent their childhood of 1967.
Nick Mason: I'd like some pie and not the crust!Roger Waters: I. I don't like what bit I get.Nick Mason: One without crust!
Roger Waters: All that media stuff is all very irrelevant. If people get to a concert and they don't wish it, they don't come again.
