A new Post "Pink Floyd Drummer Mason Puts Ferrari FF Through Its Paces" was written on the March 31, 2011 at 8:48 pm on "Press Release - Buzz Issue.".

Just the Facts:

Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason joined a grouping of international
journalists test-driving the Ferrari FF this week. His comments will
be featured in the next version of The Official Ferrari Magazine and
on Ferrari.com.

said the Italian automaker. Mason tested the Ferrari
four-seater on a snow cover in the Dolomites. Ferrari said the rock
star tested the body by "carrying something special," hinting that
it might be a drum set.

*BRUNICO, Italy* - Inside Line's John Pearley Huffman may be forced
to rewrite his popular feature "How To Become An Automotive
Journalist." It seems that a new qualification requires rock stardom,
if Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason's recent experience in a Ferrari FF
is any indication.

Ferrari on Wednesday posted a command on its Web site saying that
Mason was partly of the detail of journalists during the
international media test-drive of the FF here this week. Mason, a
Ferrari owner and longtime enthusiast, put the new Ferrari four-seater
through its paces on the snow track "before going downward to the valley
where he experienced the car's qualities on the roadstead of the
Dolomites," it said.

Mason earlier had tweeted about the coming event, saying he was
"really look ahead to drive the Ferrari FF next week. Factory
have arranged drive in the Dolomites. should be exciting."

The rocker also appeared in the April GQ U.K. edition, driving the
Ferrari 458 Italia in a report entitled "Dark Side of the Vroom." Mason
also writes a tower for the British car magazine Octane.

While Mason has yet to show his impression of the Ferrari FF, the
automaker noted that he tried the "serviceability of the FF carrying
something really limited in the car's big bang in contrast with 'Luci et
Musica,' the idea for the next magazine's edition." Could it be a
drum set?

Mason, who has likewise been joined with Audi, is a high-profile car
collector who recently joined a classic-car investment fund.

His strange experience in the Ferrari FF is voice of a larger trend in
the automotive world that favors the increasing use of celebrities and
"real people" test-driving and critiquing vehicles along with
traditional journalists.

Witness the 300 social media mavens who rubbed elbows with the media
during the 2011 Chicago Auto Show. Organizers of the show
characterized them as "moms on Twitter and environmental bloggers" in
an e-mailed message to journalists prior to the Chicago show.

Ford also upped the ante in mid-March by recruiting several uniformed
police officers to test-drive the new Ford Police Interceptor vehicle
in a serial of Webisodes. The cops bad-mouthed the contest in
those videos. Ford said they were not paying for their endorsement.

their perks. - Anita Lienert, Correspondent
