Pink Floyd Lyrics

As a high school student, I was a big fan of British progressive rock legend Pink Floyd.Like, to the level of memorizing whole albums worth of lyrics. Here are about of my favorite lyrics from the band: Echoes

Overhead the albatross Hangs motionless upon the air; And deep below the rolling waves, In labyrinths of coral caves, The ring of a remote time Comes willowing across the sand, And everything is common and submarine.

And no-one called us to the land, And no-one knows the wheres or whys, But something stirs and something tries, And starts to rise toward the light.

Strangers passing in the street: By chance two separate glances meet, And I am you and what I see is me. And do I bring you by the hand, And leave you done the land, And serve me understand the best I can?

And no-one called us to go on, And no-one crosses there alive, And no-one speaks and no-one tries, And no-one flies round the sun_

(Long Instrumental)

Cloudless every day you come upon my waking eyes, Inviting and inciting me to grow_ And done the window in the wall Come streaming in on sunlight wings A million bright ambassadors of morning.

And no-one sings me lullabies, And no-one makes me fold my eyes: And so I have the windows wide And claim to you across the skies! Wish You Were Here

So_ so you believe you can order Heaven from Hell? Blue skies from pain? Can you tell a common area From a cold steel rail? A grin from a veil? Do you believe you can tell?

And did they get you to sell Your heroes for ghosts? Hot ashes for trees? Hot air for a cool breeze? Cold comfort for variety? And did you change A walk-on role in a war For a leading character in a cage?

How I wish, How I want you were here. We`re but two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl Year after year! Running over the same old ground, What make we plant? The same old fears. I wish you were here. Time

Ticking off the moments that form up a slow day You shoot and ravage the hours in an offhand way. Kicking around on a bit of earth in your hometown, Waiting for somebody or something to show you the way.

Tired of lying in the sunshine, staying home to observe the rain, And you are new and spirit is long, and there is time to kill now_ _And so one day you find: Ten days have got behind you! No-one told you when to run:You lost the starting gun!

And you run and you run to get up with the sun but it`s sinking, Racing around to get up behind you again! The sun is the same (in a relative way) but you`re older: Shorter of breath, and one day nearer to death!

Every class is getting shorter, you never appear to determine the time: Plans that either get to naught, or half a page of scribbled lines_ Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way. The time is gone, the call is over Thought I`d something more to say_
